Ferry Tale

8/27/2015

I don't know why, but I felt like I needed to take a picture of a thumbs up.

My sister had me take an instant photo of her, so I decided to take the cliche photo of the instant photo. Not quite so cliche any more, huh? ;)

Photography. It's been something I've dabbled in for a couple of years now. I have not just 1 but 2 camera's, yet I don't know how to use them. I barely know what an aperture is and hardly understand ISO.

One of my goals for 2015 was to learn how to shoot in manual. Well, that hasn't exactly happened yet. But I want to learn now, more than I have before. I don't know how often I will practice, but I'm going to put more time and effort into it. People keep telling me to just take pictures, which is something I haven't really done. So I think I'll start there.

So here we go. On to another adventure!

Life is Beautiful

I'm sitting here writing my first post on this blog in months and my first post on my new computer. I've sort of take an unintentional break from blogging and haven't really blogged consistently in a couple of years. My life has been busier this year than it's ever been, plus with my laptop that isn't that fast I haven't been able to make the time to blog.

Lately I've been feeling like I should write and post here more. I keep my costume blog fairly updated but I don't really have a place to talk about the other parts of my life.

Part of why I haven't blogged much is because I feel like my life would is dull to outsiders. I feel like I don't do a lot of exciting things compared to other people. But you know what? That doesn't matter. I've come to realize that every moment, even the dull ones, are the ones that make life exciting and interesting. Afterall, if there were no dull moments there wouldn't be any exciting ones! And now that I think about it I have been doing some exciting things!

So far this year I have seen 3 Broadway shows (the tour's of them at least) and got to see Idina Menzel live, I've made several costumes, received an autographed picture from Ramin Karimloo, started a film group which I'm an Executive Producer/Writer/Costume Designer/Actor for, I graduated, and got to fly in 3 different historical aircraft.

It's easy to forget how blessed I am and how fortunate I am to have had the opportunity's for all of these things. I think part of what makes life exciting is just seeing it as an adventure and everyday has the possibility to be exciting.

This post has strayed from what I was originally trying to say. But basically, I want to start blogging again and share my thoughts and my unique perspective on life.

In other words, I will be posting again soon!

A Lovely Night!

For the last two years I've been following Rogers and Hammerstein's Cinderella on Broadway, waiting for it to go on tour so I could see. Yesterday I finally did! My sister Alina and I went to see it together and we had a such 'a lovely night'!

Our seats were near the back of the theater, on the 3rd mezzanine, so we were pretty far back but they still ended up being great seats. Oh and the theater was so pretty! This was my first time going to the Paramount and it's beautiful! It would be the perfect place to do a photo shoot for costumes.

Please ignore the quality of some of the images, I only took my phone with me to the theater.

We had our own little section with just 2 seats so we didn't have to sit by anyone :D

This was the view from our seats.

Cinderella was the first Broadway show that I really loved so it was really special that it was my first Broadway show that I've ever seen live in person. It was even more amazing than I thought it would be. Everything from the costumes and the dancing to the sets and the actors was beautifully put together. And those costumes are more amazing in person (even from where I was sitting)!

I was so excited when I found out that Paige Faure and Andy Jones were the main cast. The played the rolls on Broadway right after Laura and Santino left, and they (along with the whole cast) were amazing!

Our cast :D

By the end of the show my hands hurt from clapping so much. I laughed, I cried. It was a great show. And at the end there was a standing ovation, which was very much deserved.

After we got out of the theater my mom and dad joined us to go to the stage door. I got to meet some of the cast, get pictures with them, and they also signed my playbill! I got to meet Paige Faure (Ella), Andy Jones (Prince Topher), Kecia Lewis (Marie/Fairy Godmother), and David Andino (Jean-Michel).

With Paige Faure

With Andy Jones (he's way taller than he looked on the stage!)

With Kecia Lewis

I splurged and bought a program and a Cinderella T-Shirt, which I have been wanting forever! The program has beautiful pictures of the original cast with Laura Osnes and Santino Fontana and it talks a little bit about the show and some of the costume designs.

You can't really tell here, but it's sparkly

Here's my autographed playbill. It was so amazing to actually meet them! Now I can check 'meet famous people' off my bucket list. :)

And my shirt. Sorry for the poor quality, I'm horrible at taking pictures in the mirror.

I'm goign to be seeing Phantom in a few months, which I'm even more excited for now than ever! If I ever get the chance to go to New York, all I'm gonna do is see Broadway shows ;)

Meet Erik

Everyone, I would like to introduce to you Erik, my new camera (unfortunately I don't actually have a picture of him)! I bought him from my sister Sereina since she decided to upgrade her camera and offered to sell hers to me when she got her new one.

It's a Sony a580, which I really don't know what that means, but it's an awesome camera. One of my goals for 2015 is to learn how to shoot in manual. As of right now I only barely know how to shoot in aperture priority.

These are some of the pictures I've taken so far with my new camera.

My first picture with Erik

Sereina also gave me the camera bag that came wither her new camera since she already has one. It's a really nice bag and I feel like a real photographer carrying all my camera gear around in it. lol

Sereina bought a ukulele and is teaching herself to play.

This weekend Alina and I played this Nancy Drew game together. She's already finished it, but it was my first time playing this one. Nancy Drew games are the best!
